Fashion design as an industry has been a source of fascination and excitement over ages just because of its glamour, grace and attention that it draws across different sections of society. Fashion when it is talked about always relates to a form of art that tries and creates clothes and accessories that keep changing with times are always contemporary. So to understand more about this industry it would be worthwhile to trace back the origins of fashion industry. Though there is no concrete documented proof as to when this industry really started taking off, it can be traced backed to the early 19th century when the first steps were taken towards this becoming organized and taking the form of a business venture or as an industry. It all probably began in the royal courts where newer and more trendy dress materials and accessories were tried out which eventually led to the first fashion designer, Charles Frederick Worth, setting up his first fashion house in Paris. Thus began the first movement in this great industry which over the past two centuries has literally crossed many milestones and today has achieved the status of a big and throbbing industry which apart from redefining clothing and accessories is also a source of employment to millions across the world. Charles’ designs were so popular and attractive that it is believed that his designs were given a special name and were called “house of the Worth”.
